ROSE TYPES

CLIMBERS

These roses can be trained on fences or trellises.  Most bloom continuously and depending on the variety have individual flowers that resemble hybrid teas or clusters of smaller flowers resembling floribundas.  Winter hardiness varies depending on the variety.  Winter protection is necessary.

EASY ELEGANCE

The Easy Elegance collection makes it easy to grow beautiful roses.  This classification of roses are hardier and more disease resistant.  Heights range from one to five feet depending on the variety.  Collection includes shrub, grandiflora, and floribunda.

FLORIBUNDA

Smaller and bushier than the average hybrid tea.  Flowers are often smaller than hybrid teas, but are carried in large sprays, giving a better floral effect in the garden. Classic hybrid tea-shaped blossom, sometimes differing from hybrid teas only in their cluster-flowering habit.

FLOWER CARPET

Longest flowering of nearly any roses, require minimal pruning, lush bright green foliage.

GRANDIFLORA

Grandiflora shrubs are typically larger than either hybrid teas or floribundas, and feature hybrid tea-style flowers borne in small clusters of three to five, similar to a floribunda.

SHRUB

Also known as the old fashion roses, hardy roses, and rugosa roses.  These are becoming very popular as they survive the winters without fuss from their owners.  To have an attractive plant, however, you will want to keep it pruned.  Shrub roses will easily reach     6 feet in height if not kept under control.  Many varieties will bloom again that same season after their pruning.  We carry the specialty shrub roses referred to as Easy Elegance and Flower Carpet.
